xx Fantasie Impromptu/Moonlight Mov. 3 within reach?
November 06, 2008, 03:04:58 AM by butters109

Right now, I'm working on the g minor Rach prelude, and I'm nearly finished with it. I've been playing for about 8 years I think, but I started fairly young, so I've only just started playing more difficult music. The most "difficult" pieces I've played and memorized so far are probably the Chopin Nocturne op 9 no 2 and the first Gerswhin prelude. I'm working on one of the easier Beethoven sonatas right now as well, Op 14 no 1 I think. Do you think it'd be worth it to try to go for the fantasie or moonlight sonata after I'm finished or not?

xx So you want to learn fantaisie-impromptu...
October 13, 2008, 10:24:50 AM by db05

what do you do?

Just throwing out the question for everyone, teachers and students alike. Not that I'm trying it now. For future reference.

Assuming you're not quite ready yet. You can't just take the score and play it. And your teacher isn't going to help you or maybe you don't have one. On your own, what do you do?

Aside from the methods in Chang's book (I've read it), what else do you recommend? Are there pieces you can learn to work your way up to FI?
- an etude for 3x4
- easier piece with the same speed
- Chopin or romantic piece with the same feel
- ... What are the other prerequisites?  Huh

I know, I know it's an old topic. But please, don't link me to breadboy's thead. This is completely different.  Wink

He all,

I'm 22 and an amateur pianist from the Netherlands, never went to any official music school, just my weekly lessons with my piano teacher. Still I would love to have your opinions about the following piece. I'm gonna play this at a competition for amateur pianists in october. I also recorded Rachmaninoff op.23 nr.5 and Schuberts 2nd impromptu op.90 which I'm gonna play there too, but I thought let's start with this one Wink. Thanks already!

So shoot...  Grin

xx Fantasie Impromptu

I posted a recital recording 6 months ago just to see what people thought.
http://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php/topic,27635.msg318827.html

I tried to take their advice while still playing the piece how I like it. I think I improved a lot.

I know its a little too fast, I got nervous since it was being judged.

any comments would be great, be as harsh as is necessary. I really want to master this piece because it's the first "hard" piece I learned (skipping from the nocturne op 9 no 2 to this).

i've started this piece and i find the notes and all easy to read, and i'm playing hands separate. but when i join the hands i find it very hard. you know how it's in cut time and its got sixths in the bottom, and at the top it's by sixteenths. well look at the sheet and you'll know what i'm talking about. i can's seem to coordinate it exactly. i can coordinate  the beginning, where the right hand comes in, and thats if i play it fast...please Cry. i really need help.
