Thanks again Bernhard.  By the way, where do you look to get those ABRSM (or whoever else may list them) grades?

Thanks again Bernhard.  By the way, where do you look to get those ABRSM (or whoever else may list them) grades?

You can always go to the ABRSM site and look for your piece. If it has appeared in any of their past syllabus, it will have the grade.

You can have a look at this thread where I listed books that grade pieces. One of the problems is that each book seems to have its own grading system (ABRSM goes form 1 – 8, but other systems go from 1 to 10 or form 1 – 12 and so on).

http://pianoforum.net/smf/index.php/topic,3648.msg32681.html#msg32681
(Books that list and rank the piano repertory)

Finally, my own experience. Usually I can look at the score and pretty much guess the grade (give or take a grade).

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

Might be nitpicking here, but Doug, your list left out the Grade 6 waltzes.  According to a list from Bernhard (him again Wink):

No. 3 (Am, Op. 34 no. 2)
No. 10 (Bm, Op. Posth. 69 no. 2)
No. 12 (Fm, Op. Posth. 70 no. 2)
No. 14 (Ab)
No. 15 (E)

For gradings on Chopin you cant do much better than Eleanor Baillies book : a pianist guide to the repertory Chopin. It gives the pieces their gradings and suggestions for practice and covers virtually every piece for piano he wrote (except concerti) BUY it BUY it NOW Grin
