bbc young- TEMPEST or WALDSTEIN
on: July 30, 2022, 01:48:02 AM
hey. i was wondering what would be a better choice for me to play in BBC young musician round. waldstein or tempest sonata (beethoven). my current/ past beethoven pieces are sonata op 2 no 2, op 13, op 22, op 27 no 2, and his 3rd concerto. i love the waldstein and it’s more fitting to the time limits. but i am wondering if it’s doable in a year or so? i’m 16 btw.

Waldstein is a great pick, although I'm not familiar with BBC Young. You seem to have the experience to play a big middle period sonata. I would hesitate to recommend Op. 109/110
Second Year Undergrad:
Bach BWV 914
Beethoven Op. 58
Reger Op. 24 No. 5
Rachmaninoff Op. 39 No. 3 & No. 5
